Our growth strategy continues to be to strengthen our footprint in existing metro areas, and connect to new metro markets in adjacent geographies. The attractiveness of each metro is assessed according to underlying customer demand.
Connecting data centres is core to our business, supporting our customer’s growing bandwidth needs in cities and between cities. We have a proven track record in developing networks at pace and we do this development while working closely with our customers.
To help our customers achieve their own ESG and decarbonisation goals, we have developed innovative, data-driven tools that provide emissions reporting on network construction projects and individual services.
The euNetworks Network Construction Carbon Tool
This assesses the environmental impact of planned network construction projects, providing transparency around greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for proposed new network builds. This allows customers to fully understand and accurately report on the environmental impact of proposed network building projects and the ability to alter designs to lower their carbon impact.
We’re upgrading some paths and overbuilding key routes as bandwidth demand between key ‘hyperscale’ data aggregation sites continues to grow exponentially. We’re also extending our metro networks, constructing diverse, unique routes to new locations that are near our existing metro footprints. We’re fortunate to have a network that enables us to do that and when you own the duct or sub-duct, you have more control over the economics of how you shape and develop your network.

Continuing our Super Highway development further into Europe, linking Amsterdam to Frankfurt. We’ve delivered new fibre capacity, new ILA sites, and new route diversity
Following the addition of 1,660km of fibre network in Belgium in 2023, we’ve invested in a new duct and fibre-based network in Brussels. Our 41km city network connects key data centres, with more in the pipeline.
We completed a series of network optimisations on our ultra-low latency routes from London and Frankfurt to Euronext’s core data centre in Bergamo, Italy.
A series of experiments were conducted on our Rockabill subsea network, pushing the boundaries of quantum communication and paving the way for the future security of private data.
We’ve expanded in Belgium through the acquisition of a duct-based 1,660km fibre network, adding unique routes in Brussels and across Belgium to the benefit of our customers.
An exclusive partnership on CrossChannel Fibre system to deliver ultra-low latency services to the financial community and a strategic relationship enabling the sale of dark fibre services using the system.
A new 26km deployment of hollowcore fibre, connected to the 14km deployed in September 2022, delivers a global first of 40km end-to-end total system distance with no mid-span amplification.
Delivering a new ULL route between Basildon and London, and the first hybrid route using hollowcore fibre and regular single mode fibre. The route is 10% faster than an equivalent all single mode fibre cable.
Second commercial deployment of hollowcore fibre, with 7km between Interxion LON1: A Digital realty Company and The London Stock Exchange data centre in London’s Docklands. Data travels 30% faster in hollowcore, with these latency savings hugely significant in financial trading applications.
400G capability is available for Long Haul and Metro Wavelengths, connecting to key data centre locations and enterprise sites across Western Europe.
Long haul network expansion to Warsaw and Bratislava. Three new routes have been delivered to Warsaw, with newly lit fibre connecting Warsaw directly with Berlin and Hamburg, with the third route via Brno, supporting traffic to Prague, Bratislava and Vienna.
Delivering critical infrastructure in the UK and the Netherlands. The latest of euNetworks’ Super Highways, comprising terrestrial build and Scylla, a new high fibre count subsea cable running between Lowestoft and IJmuiden.
Full-fibre network to link Cambridge research institutions and enterprises to key sites in the UK, across Europe, and globally.
On 31 December 2019 we closed the acquisition of The Loop in Manchester. This network added unique routes, extra capacity and flexibility that enhanced euNetworks’ existing footprint.
As part of our continued development in the Paris metro, we delivered a unique connectivity solution with ‘triversity’ into Equinix PA3.
Delivering critical infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. We have built an end to end network system with high fibre count cable covering 1000km from Dublin to Manchester, London and Lowestoft.
In 2019 we added Vienna to our portfolio of city networks, adding 70km of metro duct infrastructure. Today we are investing in strengthening diversity between some key data centres.
Our deep fibre networks in cities are highly valued by our customers. In 2019 we completed a metro build in Milan to add to our portfolio of city networks. Its 118 kilometres, with base ring spanning 30km and over lapping ring segments connected by 864 fibre cable.
In 2019 we completed a metro build in Madrid to add to our portfolio of city networks. We’ve connected key data centres in this market, and strengthened our long haul nodes in a high growth metro.
We undertook expansion of our Paris city network in 2017. We are building out further footprint, undertaking an overbuild and connecting more data centres in the city.
We continue to add to our portfolio of data centres by expanding our London metro. We believe linking of our rings: Hemel Hempstead to Welwyn Garden City back to Slough and Hayes & KAO Park to Docklands through Waltham Cross and Enfield, creates a compelling new region for DC growth.
We deployed 10G Ethernet across our connected data centre footprint, offering scalable, flexible data centre to data centre connectivity. This delivers a scalable path beyond 1G and an alternative to protected Wavelengths. It also enables our customers to gain access to the wide data centre footprint we offer without the need for colocation and platform roll out.
