Making a positive impact

We believe that bandwidth changes everything, and we continue to develop our networks in support of our customers and to serve Europe’s future bandwidth needs. In doing this, we are also focused on making a positive impact on society and our world.

We help businesses measure their emissions to meet ESG and sustainability goals.

To help our customers achieve their own ESG and decarbonisation goals, we have developed innovative, data-driven tools that provide emissions reporting on network construction projects and individual services.

The euNetworks Network Construction Carbon Tool

This assesses the environmental impact of planned network construction projects, providing transparency around greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for proposed new network builds. This allows customers to fully understand and accurately report on the environmental impact of proposed network building projects and the ability to alter designs to lower their carbon impact.

The euNetworks Carbon by Service Tool

This provides a calculation of the carbon emissions associated with each euNetworks service, allowing customers to report on the environmental impacts of their network services. Our customers can more accurately report on Scope 3 emissions (emissions from the upstream or downstream supply chain), specifically the network connections owned and managed by euNetworks.

get in touch

IPC is committed to sustainability, including ensuring that IPC’s carrier network adopts a responsible attitude. euNetworks’ program and their carbon by service tool demonstrate a commitment to actively assessing and reducing carbon emissions. Their demonstration of the tool was clear. Their commitment to continuous improvement of the tool is valuable, and only serves to strengthen the already established relationship between our respective organisations.

Our Environmental, Social and Governance & Sustainability approach

ESG and sustainability considerations

We have embedded ESG and sustainability considerations across euNetworks’ core business and operations.

We now have an evidence based roadmap and architecture which incorporates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations, measurement of our sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) against well recognised disclosure frameworks such as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with inspiration from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Stakeholders

For our ESG and Sustainability considerations, our key stakeholders include:

  • Regulators
  • Customers
  • Partners
  • Investors
  • Lenders
  • Employees
  • Suppliers
  • Local communities
  • Environment

Key areas

Our ESG efforts, including focus for improvement, initiatives, projects, assessment and analysis centre on four areas in which our business has influence.

Planet

Embedding the mitigation of environmental impacts on land, sea and air into all decision-making processes.

People

Developing a workforce that reflects the world, helping our people to achieve their true potential; managing the risks to anyone affected by our operations.

Prosperity

Empowering customers to make more sustainable choices and delivering sustainable returns to our investors.

Partnership

Creating shared value in the communities in which we operate.

Our sustainability report

Our Sustainability Report provides insight and detail to our ESG journey as a team to date. Over the course of the last two years, we have focused on ensuring sustainability is at the heart of our operating principles and values.

We have implemented euNetworks’ Impact foundations and undertaken assessment and analysis against four major areas in which our business has influence- Planet, People, Prosperity and Partnership.

We are committed to being net-zero carbon by 2040 and have set 1.5°C-aligned science-based targets across Scopes 1, 2 and 3. We have made good progress towards this commitment, understanding where we are today and how we will get there.

In the report, you’ll read about the numerous new initiatives, tools and processes that we have created and implemented to progress our journey and insight into our ambitions as we move forward.

We joined 300 global businesses and are committed to Net Zero carbon by 2040

The Climate Pledge is a commitment to net zero carbon by 2040 that forms a cross-sector community of companies and organisations, working together to crack the climate crisis and solve the challenges of decarbonising our economy. The Climate Pledge was co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019.
The Climate Pledge calls on signatories to be net zero carbon across their businesses by 2040. Companies and organisations that sign the Pledge commit to three areas of action:

  • Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis.
  • Implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies.
  • Neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially-beneficial offsets to achieve net zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
