euNetworks announces multi-year contract with the Irish Times

euNetworks, owner and operator of Europe’s highest capacity fiber network, today announced that it has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply and manage a private fiber network for The Irish Times Ltd.

28 August 2006 – euNetworks, owner and operator of Europe’s highest capacity fiber network, today announced that it has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply and manage a private fiber network for The Irish Times Ltd. Under the terms of the five year agreement, euNetworks will provide the media organisation a fully redundant Gigabit Ethernet network running on dedicated fiber, linking The Irish Times Headquarters and their printing facility in the Citywest Business Campus.

The Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps) ring network by euNetworks delivers a fully diverse, highly resilient and fault tolerant solution with ten times the bandwidth over the existing solution, enabling the media organisation to instantaneously and securely link their editorial and commercial headquarters with their remote Citywest based printing facility.

EuNetworks owns and operates Dublin’s highest capacity and advanced metropolitan area network. This enables euNetworks to provision Private Fiber Networks directly to the premises facilitating the enterprise to connect directly with off-site locations and data centres surpassing legacy copper, and bypassing local loop restrictions. The Dublin network is over 120km in length and passes key businesses, industrial parks, educational & financial centres, government hubs & Internet exchanges.

For the first time, EuNetworks makes available the fundamental fiber infrastructure openly and directly to the Enterprise, bypassing last-mile copper and local-loop. euNetworks’ private fiber networks deliver complete security, resilience and unlimited bandwidth for the Enterprise’s communication needs be that voice, data, internet, video, storage, or any other proprietary protocol. All our networks inherently deliver redundancy through their mesh configuration, enabling the highest availability levels in the industry.).

EuNetworks is also providing The Irish Times with tier-one IP Transit for fast and reliable external data transfer requirements. IP Transit provides customers with high performance global Internet access solutions. Through exclusive relationships with global communication companies, euNetworks delivers highest quality IP Transit connectivity with minimum hop, minimum latency and minimum packet loss.

“Our relocation to Liffey House and the expansion of our Citywest printing facility necessitated a complete re-evaluation of our existing communications infrastructure,” said John Gannon, Operations Manager, Irish Times. “Our exclusive and private fiber network from euNetworks not only gives us a stable, secure and highly resilient communications infrastructure today, but is also future proofed for our long-term data growth.”

“Our multi-year contract with the Irish Times for their mission critical communications is a huge endorsement of euNetworks and our private fiber networking solution,” said Noel Meaney, chief executive officer of euNetworks. “Increasingly large enterprises are turning to euNetworks for their communication needs driven by network reach, bandwidth, security, mission critical reliability and redundancy advantages of our metropolitan private fiber networks.”
