GV network spearheads high capacity data transfer in German cities

Global Voice Networks chosen as premier infrastructure provider for metropolitan area networks to LambdaNet.

08 June 2005 – Global Voice Networks has been chosen as infrastructure provider for metropolitan area networks to German-based telecommunications provider LambdaNet Communications Deutschland AG in a multi-year framework agreement, which contributes significantly to GV’s profitability. Under the terms of the contract, GV will provide a platform for LambdaNet for the rollout of their services to customers in a number of cities throughout Germany including Frankfurt, DĂĽsseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg, and Munich – providing them with a high-speed network over which LambdaNet will provide secure voice and data transfer via dedicated fibre.

The amount of voice and data communications companies are transferring is growing swiftly, IDC estimate that the total Ethernet services market which was worth $715 million in 2003, will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 43% to reach $4.21 billion by 2008; with an emphasis on broadband Ethernet services towards the end of the forecast period.

Providers are facing capacity shortages that could lead to bottlenecks if they do not have the required fibre. Global Voice can warrant that this does not happen by providing a dark fibre infrastructure to selected providers. This enables the service provider like LambdaNet to support their clients with technology offerings like DWDM, SDH, and MPLS, securely and without fail.

“We are delighted to enter into a close relationship with Global Voice Networks. Through this deal with Global Voice, we can ensure the high availability of our network and also extend our network reach within the metropolitan areas” explains Mr Stefan Krueger, Chief Marketing Officer of LambdaNet.

“LambdaNet is exceptionally well-positioned to profit from the rising telecommunications needs of German companies. Their clients like Vodafone or RTL Television demand a highly available network that Global Voice can guarantee”, said Noel Meaney, Chief Executive Officer of Global Voice Networks. “In addition, LambdaNet’s excellent reputation in the industry makes it the right partner for Global Voice.”
